Family sailing trip on Manhattan’s west side in the Hudson river, and a total blast that I highly recommend. The tide and the wind were ripping straight up the river, and looking over the side it sure SEEMED like we were making great headway downstream… I’m guessing that back in the good old days they waited for the tide to be going the right way before they’d even think about leaving port. NYC pigeons eating something OTHER THAN GARBAGE or discarded rice and beans from a crowded sidewalk. OK OK sure I know this probably must happen all the time, but I’ve never seen it, and who would even think that they knew that they COULD eat berries from plants, let alone HOW. I was impressed enough to take several pictures. This is the kind of wildlife watching that extended city dwelling will cut you down to. Near McCarren Park, Brooklyn. May 28th, 2012
Osprey Sanctuary - Wolfe’s Neck state park in Freeport, Maine, May 23, 2012. One of Maine’s zillion million billion little islands. Big fish eating birds live in giant messy stick pile nests way up in trees on this particular island.

Maine actually DOES look like this. Portland Headlight, May 21, 2012
I’m really really lucky to live so crazy close to this place. I walk through here twice a day most days.
McGolrick Park - In the heart of Greenpoint - Brooklyn, NY. Side note, apparently this park used to be called Winthrop Park after Winthrop Jones (A Mainer like me!!) who was instrumental in it’s creation. Apparently we’ve been finding our way down here for a very long time.
For my birfday mommy got me a brand new stand mixer! Dough hook and ice cream maker too - NOW NOTHING CAN STOP ME!!! (from getting fat?)
Witness it’s inaugural dough ball as it is kneaded in to a smooth, elastic mass with zero strain on my wrists.
My dad rescued this horse around Thanksgiving of last year - She’s made a complete turn-around from the sad, sad state she was in. During nice days, he just lets her roam around and eat whatever she wants. Life is good up at the farm. Hollis, Maine, April 30, 2012
Heading downtown through the urban canyon - Chrysler building on the left. Very early on a Saturday morning. New York City April 28th, 2012
